Artist Overview:
Somewhere between Roots Country you will find the artistry of this versatile
and talented songwriter. JD has a unique ability that allows his songs to reach
out, connect with Canadians and make them stop and think.
JD’s songs are woven from real life experiences and often-lively humor can also
give way to touching sentiments in song. JD draws upon his experiences as both
a road and studio musician to develop catchy melodies to support his creative
lyrics. While the melodies may be rooted in traditional folk, bluegrass, blues
& country, the lyrics focus primarily on people and current events within
Canada. A proud Canadian, JD is determined to get his message across this great
land.
Biography:
JD’s travels have taken him around the world, from Canada and the
Northern Artic, to Europe and Asia. “My philosophy on song writing is that you
first need to surround yourself with the sounds of a new and different place,
and then return home to reflect upon the journey and compose your songs. My
guitar helps to make it all feel real.”
With the release of JD’s debut album in March 2003, “Breaking These Chains”, JD
has established himself as a fresh new artist in Canadian folk.
The Band:
Coming from a strong musical background, JD carefully selected the
musicians to appear with him both on studio sessions as well as during live
performances. Appearing on JD's first release is legendary Nashville musician
Charlie McCoy (harmonica), winner of a prestigious Grammy Award for his sound
track on the Academy Award winning film "Midnight Cowboy". Top Canadian
musicians include Ted Gerow (keyboards) from the original rock group, The Five
Man Electric Band, and Steve Pitico , well known Canadian acoustic guitarist. |
